The British Mountaineering council is a national governing body who looks over the United Kingdom and Wales. Their job is to promote the interests of climbing to make it a more renown to become a world wide sport
The organisation was formed in 1944 for the interests of climbing clubs. The organisation provides equipment, facilities to members who join the organisation
Climbing is optional for all ages but de-mans a high intercity and no vertigo.
Equipment can be provided by clubs but if a person wants to become professional then they buy their own due to the risks for "Health and safety"
Equipment can become very expensive due to the high risk of injury
